Plaisir is owned by Anthony Bowers and Clare Yuille. In addition to running the shop, we're actors, having met while training at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. We graduated in 2003 and now work in theatre, radio and television - companies we've worked with include the Royal Lyceum, the Tron, the Royal Exchange, Dundee Rep, the Library Theatre, the Traverse, BBC television, Granada and BBC Radio 4.
Our big idea for Plaisir can be summed up in a few words - "make your heart sing." We think shopping should be a pleasure, but too often this isn't the case - shops and high streets are all starting to look the same, selling the same products in the same way and providing a variable standard of service. With Plaisir, we wanted to offer a different experience. Everything we do, from the items we stock to our free cake of the week, is based on the idea of joyful discovery. When you shop with us we want you to feel surprised, delighted, excited and very well looked-after.
